I was on Quora the other day and read a very good explanation of the changing landscape of digital marketing. To give credit where credit is due, Mark Mehling gave an answer that is both true and in perspective of the actual term of digital marketing. Whether you’re a social media specialist, search marketer or PPC specialist, analytics is crucial to understanding success, why it happened, and how to replicate it. Knowing how to collect and analyze data as well as draw insights and recommendations from that data are paramount.
Another good source on Quora in answering the question, “what is a good source to learn digital marketing”, is from Rajiv Pandey which added his interpretation of “How do I learn digital marketing”. You can view his answer by clicking on his name here, Rajiv Pandey.
My interpretation of digital marketing is any marketing that is done via the Internet can be considered digital marketing. This means if you write content for a website, whether the website is yours or belongs to someone else your content can be considered digital marketing because it is done via the Internet.
So my opinion is the same as Rajiv Pandey. The best place or the best way to learn digital marketing, however, we differ considerably. The days of trial and error are over. You can’t afford to blindly attempt to market yourself or a website without first knowing On-Page SEO and Off-Page SEO.

What Is Digital Marketing Strategy
The best strategy in digital marketing is knowing the different channels of online marketing, the various platforms, and creating a plan that is implemented every day. Joining a forum in your niche, for example, and then never commenting on any threads, or offering your opinion, is NOT following through with good digital marketing.
If you join a forum, then you must follow through with engaging with the members of the forum. There may be many days that nothing new has anything to do with your expertise or experience, but the day that there is a problem that you can solve you had better be there to take your shot in developing a relationship with the community of that forum.
Sometimes you only get one shot at becoming a true inspiration to the community so I suggest you go for it with your full focus and concentration.
As in what was said earlier about using your smartphone for live video is one of the best responses that you can do that can have an immediate result in your marketing efforts.
The strategy to use is to create a schedule and stay on it, no matter what. For example,
- Monday – research keywords and subject for a new post
- Tuesday – finish a post and publish, submit to search engines.
- Wednesday – Marketing day on Social Media, like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, etc.
- Thursday – Research new keywords and subject for next post.
- Friday – Finish new post and publish, submit to search engines
- Saturday – Housecleaning, like linking posts to each other, update the sitemap, do a/b testing of capture page.
- Sunday – Brainstorm post ideas for the upcoming week, check site rank of the previously published post
The schedule above is an example only but having a schedule is necessary to keep you moving forward every day.

I wouldn’t suggest doing all of them all at once, but I personally picked out two SM platforms and tried to learn everything I could about their particular platform. I suggest you do the same and become an expert of just two social media platforms. Market the heck out of them for six to nine months. By this time you will see if a new strategy needs to be implemented and learn two more platforms.
Check your Google Analytics to see which channel is bringing in the most targeted audiences and what your conversion rate is from each channel. Make a decision on whether to keep both channels as a good market source or move to the next SM channel to learn how to market there.
YouTube channel is a game changer and so it should be, YouTube is the second biggest search engine to Google. Did you know that over

- That YouTube has over 1.9 billion monthly active logged in users?
YouTube is a huge platform to use as a perfect marketing complement to your website. Social media isn’t the only game in town. There are several other media channels ripe to pick from. My favorite and old school is a Forum that is in your niche. If you look at the niche description you will see how many members but also the last time new material was published. Go with the larger groups and also the most recent published post.
Find a thread that matches best to your expertise or experience and follow it and leave comments on. If you can offer suggestions to the people asking for solutions you have just scored big. You do this a couple of times and you will see a rise in your traffic to your home site.
Marketing in 2019 will be different than marketing done in 2018 and years past. The Internet is evolving and so too is the marketing channels and abilities of technology to connect people to what they want and search for. It is up to us learn how to help solve the problems people are searching for so that our conversions are better and our bottom line is better also.
